According to the documentation that I have, the oven should reach 350c. This zone, set at 330c will not go above 314c.

You need to verify if you're getting up to the needed temps. It looks like you're not. I'd say it started to reflow but never reached a long enough time. Nitrogen may help with further wetting.

we have a new ersa ews500 wave machine and are experiencing difficulty in profiling for lead free. particular issue is reaching 110c preheat for large TH electrolitic caps while maintaining 110-170c on 1/4 watt resistors in same area

Samir, I didn't get the e-mail unless I thought it was spam and erased it. The high-mass sensors are custom made for ECD. The round sensors on the OvenRIDER are the "process" or high-mass sensors. They are designed to never reach zone temnperature. T

Good morning, Solder paste softeners are designed to allow solder paste reach ambient temperature during shorter time period (only 5-10 minutes instead of hours). You are preparing your material in right way. No reason to worry. BR, Pavel

Ok, thank you. I want to reduce the maximum temperature that the profiler reaches. I reckon that I need to get a shielding box for it. Can anyone recommend a shield that is cheaper from a UK supplier. �525 from KIC's distributor is too expensive.

Hi Jack, I've seen around 7 degrees diff in max temp. The real factor here is time to reach peak and time at peak.

I agree with Steve. I figured this original post just an ambiguous question to support a political soap box. Seems to be working, since we all know surface mount placing in the US prevents medicine form reaching babies in other countries.
