The supplier said : no impact on the quality/elec. characteristic- this comes with a huge cost saving. As an Engineer, I would not take things for granted, I will have to verify the statement. In other words, I don't trust salesman. rgds, yngwie

Here Downunder, I spoke with few SMT equipt suppliers and they said that many small companies bought machines since after the Sept. 11 incident. Info Tech is really down here but electronics manufacturing is rising at a slow rate but it's still hard

I agree with what those other guys said. You problem description is vague. Please describe: * 'Broken' trace appearance * Where it is located * Process steps up to discovery * Board design * etc.

Thanks for the suggestions. I should have been more clear when I said "loose parts". Along with the truly loose parts I have many strips of 50 to 1000 on reels (not marked) and in bags (not marked). I guess if I cannot determine all of the tolerance

I agree with Russ. The hand soldering temperature depends on: * What you are soldering. * What solder paste you are using. * What are the capabilities of your soldering iron. That being said, kind look at 580-650*F as kinda, sorta typical.

Do you mean on a drawing of said PCB, or just on the CAD file? If in the CAD file, use a word processor and do a search. On a drawing, There are a number of PCB cad software out there, they should have a search command. if not, you are on your own.

I have always heard to use solder with 2 percent silver to reduce gold embrittlment. One vendor site said this is a myth. Does anyone know of a specific document recommending this such as IPC or MIL spec. ???
