We've been conformally coating for years (primarily silicones) and yes we have issues with both equipment and materials. We just don't have experience with acrylics.

Check with your connector supplier, but most press-fit contacts will pierce through Types UR & XY conformal coat (military approved). Acrylic (AR) Urethane (UR) Epoxy (ER) Silicone (SR) Parylene (XY)

3) Not usually a problem on IC's, however on certain crystal/frequency products there have been issues with harmonics causing damage. Also would not like to speculate what would happen with the new ranges of MEM's silicon sensors. Cheers, Rob.

Chris, The Asahi SCS7 is Asahi's attempt at copying the SN100C and is a tin/copper/silicon alloy that melts at 227C so no, it is not a low temperature lead free alloy.

We use an Asymtek C-741 with 2 heads for silicone and acrylics but no convoyer. What type of head and product will you use ?

I am using Silicone based boots with SR coating with good results. I Use Vinyl and Rubber boots with AR and UR coatings.

Is it acceptable to apply an acrylic conformal coat, cure and then apply a silicone RTV on top (for staking tall components)? Should there be a concern with the bond between the acrylic and the RTV?
