Copper dissolution is a major issue in lead-free soldering, but only when you use OSP boards. Nickel based plating eliminates the problem.

Hello Dougs: Have you tried stenciling solder paste to the BGA part itself. You will find this most helpful for your heat transfer and attachment integrity of the component in a Pb free process.

Try using Chip Quik to reduce the heat required for component removal. Along with your bottom pre-heater, use a temperature controlled hot air system to help heat up top side for component installation. http://www.pcb-repair.com/products.htm
