No you're not stupid, they will melt if the top of the board gets real hot. I was lucky most likely in that ours were usually off of the board surface. anything that will hold the weight material will work. Now that I think about it my shot bags w

Jason, First, check with the manufacturer of the flux you are using. They can tell you what board topside temperature range the flux is designed for. Some other info is needed for the residue part. Is it showing up on the same board, or different boa

Jason: Wave soldering is the coolest thing!!!! First, so, whats the chemical analysis of this white res? Can you point us to either tin, rosin, or something else? Second, how do you know that you are making these white residues? Could your boar

ok now i have some more answers to questions. the 225F is the temperature as the pcb comes out of the last preheater before crossing the wave. the conveyor speed is anywhere from 3.65-4.00 should it be the same for all boards?? I am using superfl

I've been in shops with a flux containment pan under the wave fluxer. While I'd rather see excess flux in a containment pan than on the floor, but I'd prefer to see flux applied precisely to eliminate the need for either using a containment pan or cl

Sounds like the problem is design realted - here's a cheesy trick if your product/process permits: (you know how I love my cheesey tricks!) Put an adhesive dot between the pins that are bridging. If you're gluing bottomside SMT components to the bo

We are having an issue with the solder bars hanging the solder feeder dripping down the back side of the pot, and leaking in to the area where the terminal block for the elements on the pot are. We have tried aluminum tape to close off the gap betwee

Jason, If 225C is the topside temp of your board just prior to hitting the wave, I would say this is too high. Your flux suppliers data sheet should tell you an ideal topside temp for good flux activation, probably around 190C. According to the Bi
