What are you guys using for SMT Adhesive? When we started into SMT many years ago, we used a Loctite with a pneumatic pump. When we got into automated dispensing with our Contact 3S placement machine, we switched to Heraeus PD955M. It has worked very well for us over the years, with consistant dotting, and super strong bonding. The problem I have now is we have had less than stellar results with this product when we have to stencil it. The problem is not the print, its the cleanup. It's very difficult to clean up, even with the chemistry they recommend. Can you guys recommend an easy to clean up adhesive for us to evaluate? I'm looking for something that prints well, bonds strong, and cleans up easily. Does such a product exist? Thanks in advance!

Steve, We use the 955 version for printing with the DEK Pump Print process on two lines in high volume. We clean the stencils in an ultrasonic bath with Hydrex A+ I think diluted in deionized water at the end of 2nd shift. By startup, they are dry and ready to go.

I've tried loctite 3616? and epibond, but didn't have as good a results. Processes and setups vary though. When we got into this, we were recommended to go with the epibond material, but we never did get it to work the way we wanted, but I understand that the company that the tech had worked with loves it.

Good afternoon,

We use PD955M daily and are also happy with PD955M. Consider PD955s printable version: PD955 PY or PD955 PR (difference is only in color: red or yellow). Do not use IPA for cleaning. IPA tends to harden adhesive making cleaning extremely difficult.

Pavel, What do you clean your stencils with (chemistry, equipment)?

Steve, We use Heraeus PD 945 and clean with Electrolube SSS. It gives us a good result with both hand and ultrasonic cleaning. Also does a good job on solder paste.
