Hi lads, I have a problem with asequencer 2596. We had a power cut last week which cut power to the seq. The battery on the controller box was dead(now replaced), which meant the exec file got deleted from machine. Now I can't load it back up again. Gets to the point its nearly loaded abd then just stops. Had all the cards out and eproms unplugged, voltages ok, fuses ok etc,. Anyone any ideas where to go next?

The controller may be fried. A company named Unidec sells refurbed Universal boards.

It's been years, so take my comments as being worth what you're paying for them. ;)

Sounds like it could be running out of memory space. I don't remember anything about being able to clear it or whether or not the exec shares space with anything else, though.

Have you checked the comm settings (baud rate, flow control, stop bits, parity, etc.)? That also could be getting in the way, If the power down sent them into a default state other than what your system requires it could give you grief. That's about all I've got. Good luck.

Kevin,

As Steve mentioned, you could be running out of memory space - a few things to check:

1. What is the file size and how far does it get when loading the exec back on? Depending on this, you could be out of memory. 2. You may or may not need an abs file when loading the exec. 3. We had this happen before - are you getting to DOS by going through Windows? If so, start the PC up in DOS so windows does not fully load and try that.

You can give us a call with questions if needed - 859.499.3455.

Thanks,

Matt

Kevin,

There are many possible causes. Can you give us some background? Has this exec ever been transfered into this machine from this PC? Do you have other exec's and/or PC's. As previously stated it sounds like a memory issue but could be communications or bad exec.

If you have a different exec try to load that even if it's for a different machine. This can help isolate the problem.

What medium is the exec stored on? Maybe your floppy has a bad sector, do you have a back up copy of the exec or maybe can get one?

Of course we all know those intermittent failures never come back after a successful Monday a.m. boot. ;)
