Hi All,

Howdy, I have an Electrovert econopak smt II. I'm set to change over in June to SN100C. I won't be changing out anything. I'll just be purging the lead out of the solder pot with a tin bath. I don't expect there to be any problems with our change over. However I really would think different if we were using a sac alloy in our wave. I'd bet that we wouldnt get much more than 3-6 months of life with our wave pot components. AJ what alloy are you going to use? Best regards, Jay

Hello AJ, I have customer references who have converted Electroverts to SN100C who are available to discuss their experience with you. One has been running over 2 years and others over 1 year. No corrosion due to SN100C has been found to date. FYI, I have over 30 Electroverts converted to SN100C in North America with no change in the pot or pump equipment. Please contact me off-line for the references. bgilbert@fctassembly.com

Hi ,

we are switching to Alphas SACX Alloy.

We are really going with supplier recommendations here and some data that we received on its performance. The cost which is 30% cheaper than SAC alloy with all the benefits of SAC alloy.

Howdy aj, wow! Be prepared for serious problems with corrosion of your stainless steel workings of your pump. Last I looked changing a wave solder pot over to nitrated coating for electrovert was in the neighborhood of 18-20K. I'm not a betting man but I'd give your wave solder pot 6 months at best. Hope that if you go with the sacx you get longer life, but I wouldn't bet on it. Personally I'm going with the sn100c. No change in my wave solder pot except a good purge with tin and no need to keep buying wave components as they get eaten by the sac(X) alloys. Heck I think sn100c is right around 50% cheaper than a sac alloy. Good luck, Jay Brower

We get SACX or the equivilent (99/0.7/0.3) for about 10.7 Euro's if that helps.

Rob,

How do you find the performance of the SACX ?

Did you change the internal components of the Bath prior to changeover?

It's OK, and lots of our customers are also using it. SN100C wasn't heavily promoted here when we had the new pot put in. Regarding the differences between SN100C and SACX they both look pretty good - I've found the main drivers to be the quality of the staff operating the machines to be the key differentiator here.

Look buddy. Pay for an advert like everyone else. He asked for tips and hints on the change over he did over the weekend. I'm sure that if he wanted to talk to you he would have. Please don't polute this forum with what amounts to junk mail. Your posting has guarunteed that I will NOT purchase a damn thing from your company and will make sure to let everyone I know that. Jay
