Farewell to All! | 18 May, 2006

I see most of the feedback that I get from this forum is non-appreciative. You people do not embrace new ideas or innovative and out-of-the-box thinking. I will provide my expertise in other venues. As a great thinker/Philosopher like myself once said a few years ago:

"I simply decided to get out of such a commercial enterprise exploiting my expertise with no return on my investment. Christ, look at this thing. It has ads everywhere, the thing is too complex to work efficiently, and who knows anyone anymore? Just look at it. There are not nearly so many postings of much interest anymore (check the archives and the threads we used to create). Simply, there aren't many postings at all. Why don't you all go where the "big boys" play at IPC. I mean, real work gets done there, but not enough bare board stuff anymore, and it's pretty professional with none of this advertising crap. I don't blame anyone for making money, but damn it takes so much time just to get on line here, if one wanted, and there's no satisfaction as before as feedback and real incentives to participate. Pretty much the same old questions and answers but no challenge. We really used to get into it. You all are professionals. You should be participating in a higher place."

"As a great thinker/Philosopher like myself once said a few years ago:"

Who was this great person that hated SMTnet years ago?

MoonMan, you have to realize that when you boast silly things such as high CPH and new metals that no has ever seen, that people will be skeptical. Yeah there are a lot of adds on this web site, but Ive found some to be very helpful. Plus if it keeps the forum going, more power to them. Slow? Maybe a little, but what I get from here its worth it. As for the same Q and As, well its like television, if you dont like change the channel. There are a ton of new companies opening over seas and yes they ask some beginner type of questions but who hasnt in their experiences in SMT? As for participating in a higher place where? IPC? Its a good site for designers, but not really so much for builders. Over time things change, you have to deal with it.

The whole point of any forum is to share practical tips and tricks and learn from others in similar positions. If the only thing you're going to say in your posts is "hire a consultant to achieve synergy" you aren't really contributing, it just sounds like you're using a buzzword generator. If you need to drum up business, pay for a little advertising. Don't expect us to say "Oh thank you for telling me to spend money on you". First provide us some practical posts that show us you actually know what you're talking about. Then people may actually want to seek you on their own for further in-depth information as a paying customer in the future. Frankly, I hang up on pushy telemarketers. And I walk out of any business that has high-pressure commission salesmen.

Hi,

I guess if your innovative and out-of-the-box thinking is not appreciated by the group here, then perhaps it's time to consider it's actually just arrogant, and stupid thinking. Then I guess it would not be out-of-the-box to consider that your wrong, and have no idea what your talking about.

Only a complete idiot would stumble into this forum full of worldwide SMT manufacturing professionals, and say what your saying, with a name like yours. Then when people laugh, you think it's our problem, not your idiotic statements.

Bye, you won't be missed.

Regards,

Grant

What makes yall think this is Earl? Admittedly the poster used a quote from Earl, but that doesn't mean this thread was started by Earl. We doubt he would quote himself. He would post something witty and provocative.

Sorry guys, we think we've PO'd someone new [other than Earl]. The curious part is: We read most of the postings here, but can only think of the "Wavemaster Larry" frothings as the last time [since Earl leaving] that we got-up in someone's grill. Must be that we're more insulting than we realize.

I cannot believe the maturity level of you all! This is a place for questions and help. You all have managed to turn this place into a LYNCHING.

This thread, and his other, as silly as it may have been, did not need the ridicule and down right viciousness that you have all given.

Because of this, I realize that this place is not for real help... this is a place to come and complain, then insult people for stating their opinions. Grow up.

"witty and provocative"

And that is pretty much the perspective I see all of this guy's posts from. I don't take it seriously for a second. How can you take that author name seriously? And quoting himself is perfect if he's using new usernames for the sheer fun of it.

I also don't see the point of people announcing their exit, although in this case it may very well be tongue in cheek.

Anyway, if Earl cared what I thought (and I seriously doubt that he does) I'm sure he'd set me straight.

Hi Guys

What a wonderfull bunch we are. Overstressed by the senior management at HQ dreaming up some new benchmarks, processes we don't fully understand and to top it up a wife bitching at you for spending to much time with the brand new smt line you just installed. Standing in front of it with admyring how the babys purr like a cat and so without any interruption gives me a high. Why don't we focus on the essentials and try to make each others live easyer by helping even a beginner. Remember you all startet there. Personally I think there are many stupid questions but lots of stupid answers. Don't we all have enough of the egos floating around in this forum. I still learn from reading various posts after beeing in the EMS business for over 20 years and thank all for the valuable contributions.

I would never ridicule any question. Asked by anyone. Nor would I ridicule any answer. I think pretty much everyone here feels that way. So going back to the original post that started this,,,, where is the question??? If you just want to make a statement, no matter how rediculous, buy an advertisement.

Hi,

I agree, and normally we would not act like this to a real person, but this guy is a joke, and it was funny to read the replies to it, and reply.

Guru is never going to be part of this forum, because he's just some weird guy who's too arrogant to learn from everyone here. There was never any question in any of his posts.

Can you imagine if someone like that came into any group of people talking and said things like that? I think there would be a few jokes made, and some blunt comments. These forums are groups of people talking.

But if we start doing this to people who really don't know something, and are are asking some simple questions, then it really is our problem and we need to make sure to don't do that.

But Guru is totally not in that ballpark, and we don't need people using the forums to post add's for their services or products in the most arrogant way, when it seems they don't even really have a serious product, or even any knowledge of the topic.

I think the replies were balanced considering.

Grant
