Not at all. Politicians around the world make snap decisions on little knowledge that create a far worse future for all of us. As long as their pockets are lined properly, they feel they are doing a good job. Do you really think any politician gives a sh@t about a landfill? Alas we all learned this by reading Chicken Little.

No Pat, it's not the craziest piece of EU legislation - that has to go to one of the following:

Common Agricultural Policy Common Fisheries Policy or my favourate - The GI list

The GI list stops anyone else in Europe (& aiming for the world!) making Champagne unless they are in that region in france, or Port unless they are in Porto, Parmesan unless they are in Parma, or battery acid unless they are a german wine producer.

However...anyone can make Chedder Cheese, cornish pasties, Melton Mobray pork pies, lincolnshire sausages etc.

Common theme - crap EU legislation that benefits one party to the extreme detriment of everyone else.

We also had an italian as European Competition Commisioner, protecting us against monopolies, (Mario Monti) who went on a crusade against Bill Gates for being an innovator.

Come live here Pat, you'd love it!
