Hi,

Ok I am a little confused about an aspect of RoHS as I just heard some comments from a major manufacture that it's ok for a dealer of a product to ship a NON RoHS product to a customer after July, but you cannot distribute a NON RoHS product to the dealer themselves?

I thought we had to make sure all product into dealers was RoHS by july, but it looks like stock in the dealers is ok, and it's only stock that's sold from distributors to the dealers, and manufacturers to distributors that needs to be RoHS by july 1st.

It would make a lot of sense, as a lot of dealers must have old stock that could have been in stock for months, and it would be hard to make sure that was all RoHS, and for all dealers to have RoHS stock, manufactures would have needed to be shipping RoHS for almost a year to ensure it's all flushed out.

Does anyone know about that?

This is true, as long as your leaded product is fully assembled before 1juli, it can be stocked and sold after the first of juli. Just a couple of hours to go, guys.... The suspence is killing me!

Distributors and dealers can ship non-ROHS parts forever. Assemblers can not ship non-ROHS products to Euroland after July 1 and other counties [Japan, Korea, China, California, etc] after their cutoff dates.

I have been unable to find the reference, but I remember reading that non RoHS stock can be shipped to the EU after 1 July as long as the EU importer had paid for the stock before 1 July. Any one know for sure?

Thanks guys and that's a big help, as I thought we had to have the lot flushed out, and I guess I must have transferred my worries about us flushing out all parts to our sales channel as well!

Bert what you say is correct,

the RoHS says "put EEE first time on the market", so that means that if EEE have been sold to a Importer before 1 July 2006 (demonstrate by invoicing and not sure but also customer clearance documentation) they can be put on the Euro land after 1-7-2006 because in this case it is not more first time but second time on the market. Traceability will hard job any way.

Not so easy any way because not all the E countries are using same procedures regarding part on stock, not sold by 1-7-2006.

individual components are not part of the RoHS directive so Dave is right part suppliers can ship them forever, they may not be able to sell them to anyone, well not legit anyway. Distribution of manufactured goods that are already in a warehouse in Euroland can also be shipped as much as you like as long as it was in Euro prior to the 1st of July.... Although.... The law states that they should be put on the market, i.e. available for sale, so in theory if they were on a boat and sailing there and you listed them as available inventory you could still land them at the docs... wouldn't want to be the one who tested it though! It's all the companies who have claimed to be 'out of scope' or exempt that will have the fun now as they get forced to prove it.... J

No suspense at all. The sky is bluer and the grass is greener all ready (just like the RoHS pictures everyone sticks on their boxes). The air is much cleaner as well; so much so, I've noticed colors I've never seen before. People are nicer and tip their heads and say "Gid day'" to each other all the time now. I think I even saw a cat and dog playing together in the new park they just build right next door to our factory. Are Oompa Loompas covered in RoHS or WEEE?
