Question:

Can an MPM UP 2000 HI E printer recognize Right or Left justified screens? Please let me know.

Yes. I have both R-L and L-R machine in house and we swap stencils betweeen them all the time. Stencil programs from R-L to a L-R machine (and vise/versa) will not.

I think he meant stencils where the print pattern is front, left, or right justified on the stencil itself as opposed to being centerred. Is that what you meant. It can be done on DEK printers, but it has been several years that I worked with an MPM.

You should be able to do it in > TOOLING > OFFSET. The pcb stopper is attached to the camera and a default stop position is calculated from the PCB dimensions. If your stencil image is offset left or right then you can either fiddle the pcb size or input the offset. Offsets front and back can be much more difficult. If the image is too far from the centre to the back then you may have to move the stencil so that it is partially hanging out of the machine - you may have to bybass interlocks etc. If it is too far offset to the front and you can't physically move the stencil far enough to the rear - then turn it and the board 180 degrees and hang it out the front. Remember to turn board back 180 for next process. Fun huh? You may come across stencils that you simply cannot align due to the offsets being so large. For inline printing stencil image should always be pcb centre justified - not image justified.

Does any one know how far left or right from center the aperatures can be? If I had a 6" board, and a stencil with cut-outs for both sides right and left of center, would I have problems?

If your frame size is 730mm x 730mm then you can't move it left or right. If it smaller than that then the frame adapter will give you more leeway. I am not too sure by what you mean by

"If I had a 6" board, and a stencil with cut-outs for both sides right and left of center, would I have problems? "

Do you mean you have to process two different pcbs of 6" length with the one stencil? ie one image on the right and one on the left? If this is the case then you may have to mask part of the stencil or have some custom offset squeegee blades made to suit. Not noice. From quick measurements on an Ultraprint 1500 you may get away with it if the gap between the two images is less then 6". The only sure way to tell is to take the stencil and boards to a UP2000 and see if you can get it to align.

I mean if you are using the same stencil for the top and bottom of a board. Thanks to everyone for the help. From what I gather, it will work when the stencil cut-outs are offset from center in the Y-axis. Doesn't work too good in the x-axis, because the machines x-axis range of travel is only a few inches.
