I would like to ask anyone who may have use any equipment or device to check SMT socket leads. We have co-planarity problems with these sockets on the boards. The sockets we have are packaged in tubes and mostly the bent leads appear in different locations. Thank you.

What is it about your incoming inspection procedures that allow these components to your assembly area?

Dave's right, if it has been shown that you are getting questionable parts from the vender, then pre-inspect them before they hit the production floor.

If they are fine from the vendor and you are sure they are getting bent during the feeding action, then get a better stick feeder.

The brand of pick'n'place that we use has an option for checking coplanarity, but it is very highly priced. So we didn't get it. Maybe your machine can have a similiar option.

If they are getting bent in the tubes, then you should be able to go back to the vendor and complain that the packaging is not proper for the component.

Maybe you can order them in tape.

Good morning,

What kind of placement equipment do you use? Many of placement machines have co-planarity check sensors. Switch them on.
