Hi,

I'm trying to find quick and reliable method to keep thermocouple ball on the PCB to get best result from the profiling

I use Kepton tape, working well but needs frequent checking if it is still glued well (seems to peel of in time)

any other solutions I can use?? (quick ones ;p ) some kind of thermal glue?

best wishes

Search the archives here for info. There is lots of posts on this. Short answer is Kapton isn't the best solution. Try aluminum tape or conductive glue if you don't feel comfortable soldering with high temp stuff.

Put "attach thermocouple" in the search box above and search "forum". Lots of hits there.

If you're too lazy to search, the quick answer I can give you:

ALUMINUM TAPE!

Try it. DoE's have proven, that it's the 2nd best method for T/C attachment. The best is obviously hi-temp solder.

HI, thanx for opinion ;)

tried Searching but obviously did some mistake in 'words' and got 0 results ;p

I've already tried high temp solder - but it's damn difficult to solder TC to the component...

I'll try aluminium then...but from what I remember it gave me less temp value (maybe I used wrong one)

Here's one found by searching => aluminum and kapton ... [nice words, eh? ;p][Even with the goofball spelling, aluminium gave 30-some postings. ;O] http://www.smtnet.com/forums/Index.cfm?CFApp=1&Message_ID=39704

Shorting your thermocouple wires is not a good thing. Be careful where you contact the wires with your tape.

The best device I've used is a temp-probe. It clamps to the board rail, extends out a few inches and forces the ball to stay right where you want it. Sounds like you need a quicker fix, though. It's also kind of pricey and not the best if you need to attach a few t-couples at the same time.

I'll give a try for KIC's alu tape :)
