I am fairly new to the MYData machine. The TP11 we have just started generating the following error: W-MIPR-20:System voltage BATTERY measured 14.59V (outside limits). After talking with the operators and reading the manual I believe the problem may be linked to two of our older magazines. Is there a battery onboard the magazines that goes bad, or is this something more serious?

I'd give MyData a call, and ask them about it. They're pretty good on the phone. Might be the battery used for electrical verification .

There are no batteries in mydata magazines. This problem means your voltage is outside it's allowed range. In this case I think it's the 15 volts. If you open up the bottom of the machine and pull out the carriage you'll see a rectangular box that holds all the mot boards. If you remove the back plate of this unit you will find a board the has voltage test points. Measure the 15 volt test point and see what it really is. Usually a deviation in the 15 volt line means either your mot m or mi board is going bad. These 2 boards are tied together so you have unscrew the screws on both of these to remove these boards if that is your problem.

We run a TP9 machine and had a very similar problem with it. On a TP9 machine there is a power supply board where all the voltages are generated. It is located on the bottom side of the unit.

The problen was with one of the fuse holders. The connection inside one of the fuse holders started to get corroded. This caused the fuse to make intermittent connection inside the fuse holder. That would cause the circuit to cut in and out, thus the voltage dropping below normal levels.

The solution was to replace the fuse holder and the fuse with new ones. There are several fuses but they are labeled as to which circuit they go to so you should be able to find the right one based off of your error message.

The issue you are seeing is in fact the Battery that is in your machine. It looks like a motorcycle battery. It is usually located somewhere in or around your power supply. It should be reading an output of 18V. This battery is used in the event of a power failure. This circuit kicks in automatically so that the current status of the partially built board is saved, and can be recalled when power returns.

Contact MYDATA for guidance on where the battery is, and how to test it.

Just thought I'd let you know the problem was the Batteries. There happened to be three 6 volt 10 Ah batteries hooked in series that were no longer holding voltage. Also we ended up replacing the MI board because there was a fried component on it. Don't know if the two were related or not but thats what we found upon investigation. Thanks for everyone's help
