0201 Capacitor reject rate on Fuji CP643 | 10 October, 2007

Hi, What is the expected reject rate for capacitors on a CP643 machine. I estimate that we are dumping around 1 in 20 on average. I have played around with lighting levels,vision types etc. Nozzles are in mint condition.

Can anyone offer any advice ?

Hello Sr.Tech, There have been two types of nozzles made by Fuji for 0201's one was a 1mm tapered to .4mm and the other has a straight .4mm tube. Has one superceded the other and if you have used both types, did one work better than the other? Asking this probably will not help you, but may help me. FredC

Do all 0201's reject at the same rate? If even 1 P/N has a lower reject rate this can point towards a feeder problem. I have had a similar problem on a CP-IV-2 with 0402's that was caused by feeders. If all reject at the same rate it can be the PD or the machine. Check tolerances in the PD. Are all of the nozzles from the same vendor? Slight variations in the backlight can cause this headache.

Feeder is brand new. (Checked cal. even though it was new) Lighting is good. Machine is in perfect cal. Nozzles are brand spankin new from Fuji.

I was able to lower the reject rate considerably by playing with the offset and gain. I am placing caps from topline. I suspect that when we go to resistors, we will not see this issue.

The caps do not have uniform terminations on them.
