What other mehtods are used to make a FUJI programs using FLEXA Software? Simplest way I know is to get a text file with the followings:Part#;X-axis; Y-axis; and Referance Location.

Thank You.

Currently I use Circuitcam that we got from Aegis software.

you can purchase a license from Fuji to be able to directly import CAD data. It's the fastest and most accurate way that I am aware of. Also, it gives you the option to import the board outline as well as layers of the CAD so that you can see the silkscreen to identify polarities or the pads to verify alignment. Flexa also has the Verify tool. When used in conjunction with the cad data, you can easily verify all the components on the PCB.

vPlan Studio is another great tool, can generate Fuji basic Programs or fully optimised programs, can convert from basic Centroid/gerber to all major EDA/CAM formats, can merge BOMS/AVLS and report problems and has great rotation correction tools so no more sticky tape runs !!! Works well with Flexa.

Thank you all for great responses. Now what is a Gerber file? Is it just a PCB layers and nothing useful as far as for programming? Thanks again.

Gerber standard has been around for long time as a fabrication data model for PCB makers, but not very useful for assemblers as no centroid data is actually present in the data. Also netlists are no supported and have to be calcualated with software tools etc.

You need a software tool to generate the centroid for use in PnP programs by various calculation methods based on pad centre, which can not be correct sometimes depending on package symetry etc.

CAD data is best source for assembly position info but it too can have issues but is generally best option.
