Conformal Coating removal from packaging? | 8 December, 2008

Hi All, Does anyone know of a method (automated if possible) for removing cured Conformal Coating, silicone based, from plastic??

I m looking into a method of cleaning our internal packaging (mainly plastic boxes etc), which have cured silicone stuck to the surfaces..

Many Thanks

We've never involved ourselves in this specific type of effort, but in the past, when removing conformal coat material the supplier of the conformal coat mat material was by-far the most knowledgeable about proven techniques for removing their material.

Dave is correct. Try http://www.ccrco.com Removal of conformal coatings from specific sites might be a more manual process. Think small abrasive cabinet, and an air wand shooting wheat chaff or a (softer) plastic bead media. For components with Acrylic, Silicone, or other hard coatings this is successful. Not sure about your substrate though.

I have no affiliation with, or receive any compensation from the above mentioned company. Good Luck! `Hege
