semi-manual SMT placement

semi-manual SMT placement | 9 February, 2009

I am looking for a semi-manual system that an operator can use on a 2 meter conveyor to assist in part placement onto printed boards. We do some prototype assemblies where we don't get parts tape and reeled. Am looking at something that can pick up a part and then move in X/Y and place a part onto wet paste. Would like some microscope or vision camera to assist in oblique view when location the placement location. I did an internet search but didn't see any candidates.

Does anyone have any recommendations or any third parties who have developed these type of systems?

Thanks

I too am interested if anyone has any assistance that they can provide. A few years ago I took a table top, manual pick and place system and had a "table" machined that would allow me to bolt it onto one of our two meter, Inspection Station, conveyors. It mounted easily, but what I failed to take into account was that we had to have the PCB and the table-top pick and place machine on the same level, because the placement head didn't have enough travel to get down to the surface of the PCB. Don't get me wrong, it looked great! It just didn't function very well. :(
