beware of job scam | 25 February, 2009

hie, just to warn engineers/technicians and others that have thought of working in Italy. Please beware and be clear of what is being offered.

Don't be fish in by the sweet talking owner. This is a personal experience and i am glad that i have realised it and back to my home ground.

To work in Italy or other place in europe, it is advisable to get the work permit. I realised this after checking with the Italian Ambassador in my country which is not the same as mentioned by the owner who said i can work with a social visit visa.

My Experience.

- This particular company offered me for what i can do as a service engineer. But has been delaying my payment for 4months. When asked, this owner told me that in Europe, it is a norm for Engineers to be paid after 30 days of service. When asked again, the number has become 60days and so on till now i have not receive a single penny from this company.

- The machines that i service during my stay with this company is all craps, yes, it is a second hand machine and i do not expect it to be in good condition, but at least sent it back to the warehouse before sending it the site so that we can refurbish it. Because when the machine arrived customer place, customer would like it to run as soon as possible. But the machine condition... craps. Need spare parts and this owner will said he will order it immediately, which mean a couple of weeks to come.

- This owner is too proud and have thick face to mentioned that with the salary he pays me, i am able to buy a house every year. But he didn't realised that he has not been paying me.

- In the company mission, it says to provide reasonable price for his local customers. Which i think is not sincere. Customers will only get benefits if the machines are in running condition which most of the time, it requires me to spent more than 2 weeks to get it running due to waiting for spare parts.

- And weird enough, everytime when i ask about the machine condition at the time he ordered from some factory, it is always in running condition. Then how can it break down on arrival to customer place?

Basically, i am not out here to make a fuss over what i have been going through, but i just want to share it among Service Engineers and Technicians to really think about job offers overseas.

And i hope that the company that did this to me can get through this crisis by using the money i earned for him plus the salary that he has been holding since 4 months ago.
