Pick & place nozzle for data switch | 25 May, 2009

Hi , we have problems with the pick & place nozzle when assembling data switches on the PCB. The SMT switches have top surface with diameter of 2.6mm and our supplier is suggesting that if we need to replace the current nozzle which has oval suction hole - 2mmx3mm , which is obviously a wrong size nozzle , I agree ,but for any smaller we'll have to order a custom made one !? I can't believe that we need a custom made nozzle for more then a standard SMT devise. Help anyone ??

wich is the model of the machine you're trying to place this component? what are the placement issues that youre observing. on the IP3 that we place switches we use a 3.7 nozzle (standard) because of the dimensions on the component, the issue that I remember was with the placement because of the spring motion of the switch but we corrected with a placement offset in Z.
