What methods do you recomend for training workers, while running a line at full production?

Re: Workforce Training | 27 November, 2000

Taking any number of people off the line would be expected to slow production. That is one major advantage for more individualized approaches. Intermec in Washington faced this problem, with a need to train ESD prevention but a strong push-back from management because training impacted production. By going to a CD-ROM based individualized training, they were able to train two people at a time, for a period of a couple of hours. These workers then returned to production and another two went to training. Net result - minimum impact on production, but over a reasonable period of time they brought everyone up to speed on ESD. The fact that this type of training takes less time than classroom training (typically up to 50% saving in time) is a bonus.

In that package, an online test is a part of the program. Questions are randomized by objective.
