BOM - what software or system you use? | 8 September, 2009

I am interested to learn what software you use to handle BOMs. So far we just use static Excel sheets, so different BOMs are not connected.

I wonder what other companies use. I was looking into some GPL licensed (means free) packages, but most are ERP with a BOM function, which is a bit over the top.

Please let me know your good - or bad - experiences with a particular software package.

What's not so good is that all systems seem to be Windows based, whereas we use Linux most stations. A web based solution would be great. But so far i am still in the study phase.

After checking most of those previous posted here packages online I have to say i am not too excited.

Biggest problem, nearly all use Windows as O/S. An indication that most are developed in the 90s.

I think I write my own, just with MySQL and PHP and have it run on the web, hence O/S independent. Should be easy, I don't need those accounting functions, just the core function are fine.
