Dear ALL,

Which machine is the best cost effective in the Pre-Reflow stage.(Programming lead time/Inspection capabilities) Whether it is AOI from Omron or ViTech. Thx in advance for all your sincere postings.

Cheers, Nagesh

Do a search for both of these vendors on this forum and you may find what you need.

Nagesh,

I haven't worked with an Omron machine, so I can't comment on that. We use VI and are extremely satisfied with their performance.

Mirtec and Yestec are the only games in town.

We've been using Vi machines for 6 years now and love them. For us they have been quick to program, good at optimizing, and excellent at low false fail rates. The vision tools also gave us more accurate component data. We had problems with high false fails rates with Omron, although that was a couple years ago. Omron themselves said they couldn't do any better. I don't know if their current product is any better.

Hello Nagesh,

Do yourself a favor, check out MIRTEC's MV-7 system. I purchased one of these machines with the Intelli-Scan laser option. This is a secondary laser inspection system that allows you to test for coplanarity of leaded and non-leaded devices using laser height measurement. In my opinion this is the best investment that I have ever made.

Good Luck...

I used Mirtec's 5 years ago. At this place we have Vi-techs. I can see why the people who recommend Vi-techs do so. They are good machines.

However overall I would recommend the Mirtechs. They were faster and easier to program. And they were were a lot better at identifying wrong parts, not just part absence/presence.

And it sounds like they are better than when I used them, which is not suprising. They didn't wait for me to give feedback, they actively sought it and acted on it.

We recently purchased MVP - we found it performed best and was a fraction of the price of some of the others.
