Getting back to Pb-free, is any particular business sector going to be impacted more than another by Pb-free implementation. For example, consumer electronics vs. automotive vs. military? Is it likely that some sectors will be exempt from Pb-free conversion?

Thanks,

The conversion into Pb-free very likely will be dictated by the feasibility of conversion. Exemption may be allowed for those sectors facing greater challenges. For instance, the industry is having difficulty in finding acceptable Pb-free alternatives for high-temperature solders for inner interconnects for packages. The possible legislation for exempt might be based on technology consideration rather than on business sector consideration. Well, at least this will be the relatively easy way to get legislation passed in the congress. Whichever business sectors employing technologies facing less challenges in conversion will be the first group to convert. In my opinion, consumer electronics will be one of them.
