How effective will current wave solder equipment and processes be with lead free solder? What temperatures will be required? How will dross generation compare?

Most robust wave soldering machines will cope with lead free alloys. The temperatures in air that we have run has been between 260-265C. In my opinion the dross generation has not been significantly effected.

I was doing a workshop for a well known supplier in the USA and they asked the same question and we both agreed that we had both seen not a lot of change.

The interesting issues have been attack of some baths by the tin, dropping tools and bolts into lead free alloy they sink and solder level sensors they dont they sink.
