Conductive adhesives vs. Lead-free solders. | 20 July, 2000

Hi Bob,

I know that that conductive adhesives have been considered as a lead relacement in the past, but have been ruled out due to cost and other process issues (surface tension etc..) IBM has extensive development data on the topic and had come up with some pretty good adhesives in doing so. My question is: Do you feel or have you heard of any "real" viable candidate ahesive that might take the place of leaded solder for SMT process? Your response is appreciated. Thanks.

Only used adhesives once and it was a disaster. I dont rearly have much experience but the real problem is everyone wants to compare adhesive with solder and they will not give the same results.

There is a good book on adhesive check out my book review page at www.circuitsassembly.com
