we have an HSP that keeps giving nozzle level (low) out of tolerance, we have performed lighting check, also this condition is only showing up on 3 or 4 heads...any input appreciated

HSP nozzles get pushed back up into the head by a cam with a pneumatic brake on it. Make sure this is functioning properly. It is not uncommon for the MAC valve that actuates the brake to get flaky = replace it. Also, the nozzles are mechanically heald up by steps on a spring loaded mechanism. Make sure these are clean and make sure your nozzles are seated 100% up into the receiver. Outside of those things, it could be a misaligned line laser but not likeley and hopefully not!

Is this on all 6 nozzles on those particular heads or just some. Try swapping nozzles with another head to make sure you do not have nozzle issues.

the "hooks" appear to be in good shape and are holding the nozzles up...machine will run even utilizing those head/nozzle combinations...we will check the valve, and verify proper operation, during non-production time....

random nozzle and head combo's all around the turret...head 1,4,8,11,13,14 and always nozzle 1 or 2

Just to get the simple stuff out of the way. Make sure that no one has changed the machine nozzle data to a different type. Then try actually changing the nozzle data and putting that type into the head. If this passes it will at least eliminate the head being an issue.

I used to wrench on those all the time! I really should be more help to you but it was a few years ago... A few more things to check - clean the line sensors on the back of the machine. Check to make sure you don't have a feeder that is allowing tape to go up and over the cutter into the line sensor area. Make sure your tape cutter is sharp and you are not getting excess paper crinkling up into the line sensor area. The pan that pushes nozzles up into the head has a procedure for cal. of the full-up position I am pretty sure - look into that if all else fails.

nozzle data and nozzles match we have moved nozzles around and installed new (known good) nozzles, problem has remained with heads...

thanks and you guys have been a bunch of help...cutter in good shape...we are going to check the pad on the acuator that returns the nozzles up...again thanks for all the help..for an old and tired machine...just for a side note this same machine was signaling "rotary turret error" we found that the gear-box on the input shaft had a large amount of run-out, you would not believe the things we tried at the start, we also found that some of the plates in the coupler were cracked and broken, we tightend up the bearings on the input shaft and had some new plates made for the coupler, ensured proper alignment between the motor and gear-box and we have rectified the turret errors...this machine is sceduled to go out soon, but its kind of like an old tractor that still runs, it does have some usefullness left in it...we hope
