Excellent question! I'm not an expert on these matters, but I know that there is at least one Eurpoean program known as EMAS (can't remember what theacronym stands for) that addresses many of these issues. I will look into this for you and get back to this board with whatever I find, but in the meanwhile, you can look at the STMicroelectrronics web site for a little information on EMAS. The URL is http://us.st.com/stonline/index.shtml, and then click on the link labeled "environment". It will give you at least a bit of information until I can get back to you There are also several European standards on energy efficency, the most notable being the "Green Angel" certification. I don't have info at my fingertips, but will try to find it for you. . Again, if you need more information, contact me directly at 609-720-0014, or lgoldberg@chipcenter.com.
