Seasons Greetings to all. Here's hoping for a great 2011. I have a Mydata TP11-UFP that won't initialize on start up. Hence we can't run production. Has anyone seen this problem? Do you have any suggestions.

Hi Ev,

We are running a TP9-2 which should be very similar to your TP11-UFP. I need a little more information to be able to help. Is it failing on the initialize hardware step? Or is it a different point in the start up sequence that it fails? What specific error messages is the machine giving you in the message log?

First we get a "transducers out of sync" error which can be corrected when we go to the "reinitialize hardware" option in the Utilities menu. However, when it fails to initialize the error is "Xfan not working".

There is a fan on the upper rear of the machine that has to be running for the machine to initialize. i suggest lifting open the top and check the operation of the cooling fans.

We have gotten various errors that I have had to troubleshoot over the years. However, I have not seen an "Xfan not working" error. I do not know what would be causing that. Sorry.

Checked that out but all fans are running. It seems to be a heat issue. I was able to get it going the next time I started a shift.

The only x fan i can think of would be the x belt motor fan which is on the back of the black box sticking out of the back of the machine. If it's a heat issue then first thing to do is replace the 2 filters behind the 2 vented covers located on the bottom of the machine in the back and make sure all the fans are running underneath your computer box, power supply, elmo, etc.

First I would confirm that both of your X-motors and transducers are working through the service menu. After that start looking at the big power booster on the back of the machine.

The Xmotor tests just confirms that the hardware did not initialize.....unless I am looking at the wrong menu. I have external fans on the booster board and the X motor on the back of the machine as well as one blowing directly into the computer box area and the front of the machine is also open.

That depends on what service screen you are using there are 2 of them. One is the exit to service under your exit prompt. The other is an extended version of the service program and you have to exit tpsys under the exit prompt and type in service -x when the unix prompt comes up. This is the one you want to use then you want to load all your boards under the boards prompt. Just verify that they are all loaded after they load. Then click on the board x which will give you another set of options. Go to the motor test option which will pull up a screen that lets you pulse both x motors and also you can see the values read by the x motor encoders. Depress both e stops on the front of the machine which will allow you to move the x wagon freely. Push it back and forth and watch and see if the transducer values change. If they do then your transducers are working. If not then check the couplings between the motors and transducer to make sure it isn't broken. If that's good then the 2 most likely suspects would be your blue x wagon cables and your mot mi board. You can also pulse both x motors to make sure they are both working properly while you are in that screen.

Thanks for this detail. The X wagon responds as per the instructions here so I'll give the cables a good inspection.
