We are soon to be putting a stencil cleaner into our line. Our biggest concern is how to dispose of the waste water that we will be generating when we flush the system. What is the best way to dispose of this material in Florida? Please don't respond by saying, "according to local regulations"

Kevin, Not sure about Florida but in Colorado we just transfer the wash solution to a drum and then dispose of it as haz.waste because of the lead. Currently costs about $200/55 gallon drum and we change the solution monthly. Another option would be to install a waste water evaporator and then dispose of the sludge as haz.waste.

Thank you for your comments. We are leaning toward storage in a drum until we arrange pickup also. Now the question is, with all the environmental regulations out there what kind of drum do we need to get so the hauler can take the waste away? That probably varies by state also.

We use an evaporation system to eliminate the need to dispose of any wastewater, you may want to look into this, big cost savings in the end. We recycle the wasted paste with our dross.

We use an evaporator plumbed into the output of the stencil washer, it works great and reduces our Haz waste. You might need to get some form of permit first as this could be considered treating Haz waste in some areas, depends if you do Pb on your line. Be careful carting out your waste water in drums, it will end up costing you a lot; and may raise you from a small quantity generator to a large quantity generator of waste if your not already.
