My company is starting to look for a new screen printer. I know the two main player in the market are Dek and Speedline/MPM. Are then any other manufactures that I should be considering?

MPM has worked fantastic for us.

A couple of points: * Just a nit, 'screens' fell in disuse 10-15 years ago. Old habits die slowly don't they? * Yes, DEK and MPM each hold about 50% of the solder paste printer market and about 4 or 5 others hold the rest.

We have a new MPM Momentum. It's hands down the best printer we have ever worked with. Load program--add paste---forget about it. Runs every day all day with no issues what so ever. I come from a "machine background" and the MPM's are much more robust mechanically and the software is excellent. However, I have heard that the DEK's are good printers too. I just thought they looked like they were put together cheap and I can't see them having the longevity of the MPM's...

We receive no benefit from Speedline.

SJ Innotech from (Korea), make excellent printers, have some excellent features, other do not have, great bang for buck, well built. Have machine with FULL 3D SPI built in, first machine maker to offer this on market. Also offer long PCB models for LED Lighting strip printing etc...

MilaraSMT (USA) also offers interesting Inline Printer that can include Jet printing in same machine - print and jet print to give you capability of adding paste after print , great for high mix part type printing - large and small-fine pitch parts.

MPM and DEKS now made in China and Malaysia now days as far as I am aware....many years of marketing have made them most sold, and not bad machines but have been costed down and revamped to look better around edges so to speak. They are not necessarily best bet, with newer players offering more....

The "low line" DEKs are made in China now (same ones marketed in China under the ICON nameplate)... Higher level are still made in UK... I thinkk similar with MPM; I know they are still producing machines in Mass...

Both suffer from cost down manufacturing...

Bill Axler... I worked with a Bill Axler before... Like 2 months ago haha. After running DEK for 3.5 years and then MPM I was partial to DEK, but honestly I'd have to go with the MPM printers.

It's about time Ron cracked that checkbook. Push him to buy new! There are some excellant deals out there right now. A new printer with just the options that you're looking for will rival the cost of a used printer on the UEM that's fully loaded with options you don't need.

Bear that in mind as your search continues....

Don't forget to take a look at Ekra while you're looking at DEK and MPM

I agree with the frazzled one, look at EKRA. We have been running X5, X5 Pro and an X5HSP little to no issues (mostly self induced) in the last 6 years. I'm partial to the X5 Pro. Additionally the Tech support is top notch.

We use 4 printers of SJ Inno Tech and don't have any problems with quality of printing and with quality of equipment. I was on their plant, I saw the culture of manufacturing - it's nice equipment with excellent characteristics and with good future.

Sir: You did not state what kind of screen printer, all the others assumed it was for SMT. We are dealers for ATMA line of screen printing and aux. eqpt. They make a first class, well made press, and are probably the largest in the world now. Over 4,000 units shipped last year. Based in Taiwan with over 25 years of production and export to US. Please look at website: http://www.atma-usa.com and let me know which model you think would be best. I can then supply further specs, literature and a quote.
