Quad 2C ICOS Error

Quad 2C ICOS Error | 18 November, 2011

I have a Quad 2C I have been in the process of setting up. Currently everything seems to be working on the unit but I am having some vision inspection problems with it.

The vision system does comes on line and seems to work correctly. I have one board that loads and runs a complete inspection process on the CAD generated fiducials.

I am using Auto Program to create the board pick and place program and CAD fiducials.

The following is the problem I am having: With the exception of the one board that works everything else will not complete loading when I try to run it from Central Controller. It will load the board program OK if it does not have fiducials in Auto Program. With fiducials, it loads the board but stops on the “loading global fiducuals” and gives me an ICOS Data Error. If I eliminate the global fiducals in Auto Program the board loads OK and runs.

What is mysterious is I can not expain why I have one working board and get this error on the rest of them. I renamed the working board and when I generate a program on the new name, it does not work either.

I have tried loading the fiducials in different order. I have tried re orienting the board with different board offsets. But I always seem to get this error. I have tried replacing the dbf and idx files that looked like they had anything to do with fiducials in Auto Program.

I am assuming (but not certain) this is problem with the generate program function in Auto Program. I have done everything I can think of short of completely reloading it.

Can anyone tell me what the ICOS data error means or any ideas on this one?

Thanks in advance.

Seems to be quad c-series week......anyways....

1. What version ap and central controller? 2. What version of windows? 3. What size are your vision models? 4. What options are selected in teach fiducials......globabl fiducial correction, multi fiducial correction....etc? 5. I am assuming you are teaching board fiducials and not component fiducials......am i correct?

lets go from there.

1. What version ap and central controller? AP 5.31 CC 7.54

2. What version of windows? Windows 95

3. What size are your vision models? 50 mil circle 150 mil search area.

4. What options are selected in teach fiducials......globabl fiducial correction, multi fiducial correction....etc? Global Fidicual Correction Y Image Rejection N Multi Fidicual Correction N Rotate N Reteach without affecting Coordinates Y I am setting up synthetic model generated fiducials for the board under global fidicuals in Auto Program. Was that what you needed?

5. I am assuming you are teaching board fiducials and not component fiducials......am i correct? Yes board fiducials. I have one set of component fiducials but that were temporarily removed. They appear to load OK if the board (globals) load.

Thanks again for your reply.

Something sounds fishy with the autoprogram software. There is a repair utility in it......maybe try that.....it also can have something to do with windows 95. There are some settings that have to be set right for it to work correctly....although i dont recall it ever just having problems with fiducials. Can you install it on another computer and try to make a program from there?

Good luck,

I have been able to get the machine to run by using the teach feature in Central Controller. The fiducials coordinates are there from Auto Program even though they won’t run. Another problem I have with this is the board fails the visual inspection if use the teach mode. The machine will run after I manually locate the fiducials on the HHT from Central Controller.

The files I have for this same board that worked correctly out of Auto Program always passes the inspection first try. I just can’t seem to get Auto Program to work like that again???

I am going to try reloading Auto Program and doing the setups one more time. I made a mistake on the initial setup for the machine and had to reload the nozzles, machine configs, etc. It may be possible the data base got confused from doing that.

I already tried the repair utility with no success. I did notice there were less icos files in the board directory for the boards that does not work.

thanks
