What Should I use to clean a sticking conveyor belts in my pick an place machine (Quad IVc)? The belts seem to have what I would guess to be solder paste that is dried, but also they seem to be a bit gunked up as if they had gotten some oil or grease on them in places. They do seem to be a bit brittle, but I'm not sure how they're supposed to be, so I don't know.

well, i tried that, took the belts off, cleaned all the pulleys, and the belts, put them back on, and the problem is worse. one of the belts barely moves and the other creeps way slower than it was before. The drive pulley is slipping in both, and the tensioning is all the way, could they just be stretched past the max?

Sounds like a sad story. Is it one of those belts that you can cut and then sew back together? Or are you figuring for all the work that you might as well replace it with something newer?

I'm not familiar with Quad but I have had very similar problems on printers. If your conveyor has an L-bracket over the top of the conveyor belt to keep it down + aligned, you might need to remove it for cleaning or make some adjustments to it so it does not push down too hard on thick spots on your belt. Usually a thick spot is where the belt is welded together and it's been my experience that is gets worse/thicker when you clean it. Also, "Total Cycle Cleaner" works pretty good on machine parts such as belts and nozzles. It's the stuff some motorcycle owners use to clean their bikes. Many motorcycle shops have it.
