My Quad IVc checks fiducials on the board, but only on the first board of the run. all subsequent boards are not checked. How do i change this so all boards are checked / aligned to their fiducials? The first board always comes out a bit better than the rest, and if the rails clamp a bit too early, a lot better.

1. You should be running the machine from the computer and central contoller. (not the handheld or run button on machine) 2. What is the tep commands in your sequence steps....I think you need to have tep vision as the first step and tep vpass at the end of the sequence steps. (Its been a while so check this by looking in the programming manual)

good luck

The correct sequence steps should be:

1. tep hold 2-? pick/place/nozzles tep vpass goto 1

This is out of the programming manual.

It sounds to me like your using only the Global fiducial mode. If your running multiple images on one panel use image fiducials instead

Bobpan, It's been a while, and I haven't really had a need for this (simple boards, with larger components), but now I'm back to a board that needs this. I only have options for HOLD, PASS or VISION under transport in the Sequence Programming. If I use TEP PASS at the second to last line, the first board gets the panel fiducials checked, then the VU3 camera goes off, and subsequent boards run without any camera. If i use TEP VISION, it seems that the camera is on while running, but It doesn't stop to re-calculate any stretch or offset at any time during the run process. I guess I don't understand why the TEP vision command would come at the end anyway, it would seem that the Transport should TEP HOLD the board, then TEP VISION should check it, then all the PICKUP and PLACE commands, then the TEP PASS, GOTO 1 at the end. Can you explain why the TEP VISION or TEP VPASS (which I don't know how to insert) is at the end of the sequence?

I have 5 manuals, a Quad IVc manual, a Quad III Quick reference, a Central controller manual, and QuadVu manual, and an autoprogram manual. Which one are you referring to as the "Programming Manual"? I assume the Central controller one? I just want to be sure, as i don't see any TEP VPASS.

Mikej, I'm only running a single image, just want to correct for the slight variations in how the board seats in the transport. It's not more than a few mils off, but enough to cause an issue on fine pitch parts. I don't have any image fiducials setup, just the global / panel fiducials

Some things to try.....keep in mind it has been over 10 years since i programmed one of those machines.

1. Tep Vision is what you should be using. I think it was called tep vpass in older software. 2. Maybe try goto 0 instead of goto 1. 3. Make sure you are running the program from central controller. What options are you saying yes and no to when downloading to run.

good luck

Bobpan, Thanks for the reply. I have been using Tep Vision, I'll see whether I was using GOTO 1 or 0, it may have been 0. I am running from central controller, and am doing a download database from the database utilities when making changes on the central controller and upload database from assembler when making changes from the HHT in an attempt to always keep them the same. When starting a program I choose all the options that download something, except the Mod codes, because I don't know where on the Central Controller those are stored / saved.

I really wish I could find a section that explained the TEP commands. It's really difficult for me to understand why the TEP VISION goes at the end of the sequence when I really want it to check the panel fiducials first. Here's what I think they do based on what you've said and I've observed:

1. TEP HOLD - Run the transport belts until a board hits the sensor, then grab it and hold it until a tep PASS or TEP VISION 2. TEP PASS - Drop the pin that holds the board, separate the rails (allowing the board to pass out of the machine) 3. TEP VISION - Same as TEP PASS but set some flag to do some sort of fiducial check in the future (how to specify global or image fiducial check is a mystery, and it doesn't seem to work)

The first two seem sensible. The TEP VISION seems wrong in my head.

Thanks again, I'll be able to check if the GOTO is the issue in a couple of hours.

The global or image fiducials is set under teach fiducials screen. You will get the option to turn on the one you want. You should choose one or the other depending on what you are building. You are correct for what tep hold, pass and tep vision does. I think that changing the goto to the other setting of what you have may fix your problem.

good luck

Bobpan and all future people with this problem, GOTO 0 Fixed the problem. It also counts boards now. I never knew why it didn't count the boards run. Haven't looked in the manuals, but I would bet that it shows this plainly. This makes sense, in that it must goto before the first instruction to reset everything, and access whatever vision flag. As a side observation, I did also try TEP PASS with the GOTO 0, and the transport stops running after the first board is released (doesn't even move the board all the way out of the machine). It seems my understanding of TEP PASS (as noted above) is incorrect.

Glad you got it working...if I had worked on them in the last 15 years i might of remembered some of the questions you were asking me a little better. But...hey....its working....thats all that counts.
