Hello to everyone! I am making another discussion about AOI. I hope I posted in the right sub-forum.I read all the other threads and I have some questions. My company wants to byu a new post reflow AOI machine and they have selected these brands - Omron (omron vt-winII), orpro (symbian S36), viscom (S6056) and I wanted to add Mirtec based on many suggestions in the forum. Basicaly we need the best coverage, lowest false alarm rate in the highest speed, because we have a fast placer. I started making a document for technical data comparison which I can send to enyone. It is possible that we can not have all the machines for demo testing, so that's why I need some advices from you. We already saw and tested an omron vt-winII for lifted leads on IC's and the results were not that good, because it didn't have the angled view option and I personaly don't like despide the amazing optics. So basicaly what is a problem is the lifted leads and missing solder (insificient solder) on the very small IC's with many leads, which our old AOI now can not fuly check. Also gull wings are not being checked and I think this must be checked in our future AOI. I am sorry for the big post, I hope I told you everything.

Thank you for the response, but the machine selection is not made by me, I only evaluate the machines. So two days ago I visited a company that has a Viscom AOI. I had good impressions about the machine but there were couple of things I didn't like: the software was a little bit complicated and they had some problems with the cad data that I sent them and they couldn't multiply the modules on the PCB. On the other hand the virification software and the SPC software were good, as well as the repeatability of the machine. If I can compare it to omron's AOI, I think it is a bit better, but it is a personal opinion. Next one I hope I will test is the Orpro and hopefuly I will be given more time for evaluation.

we have Omron works well, but it's quite difficult to understand how to program it one of our operator spent three months until he learned how to write programs which work and can be used in production

I have used Mirtec MV-7 inline for post reflow solder inspection in the past, with Laser check for lead height (QFP) Very fast and great support.

I have no connection, and receive no compensation from Mirtec. 'hege
