Where to source SMD bulk cassettes? | 7 November, 2012

Dear colleagues,

can anyone tell me who manufactures or where can I source the (IEC 286-6 and EIAJ 7201) standard bulk cassettes for SMD components? I have googled a lot without success...

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Bulk cassettes are not readily available because they're purchased by component suppliers, provided to their customers full of fly shit and when empty they're returned to the component supplier for refill.

Try Topline or your bulk component supplier

Thanks for the reply. I sent Topline a question about this. However, I am looking for a original supplier of the cassettes - there must be a supplier who makes the cassettes for the SMD companies?

Murata designed the system:

Promoting the Adoption of Bulk Cases An industry standard specification for bulk cases was adopted in March 1992. Although Murata holds the industrial property rights for this type of bulk case, we are encouraging its widespread adoption by licensing it free of charge. We have declared our intention to extend this policy to companies in other countries as well. Building on the "Bulk Summit" conference in the U.S.A. in 1999, Murata has taken part in planning "Bulk Summit Japan" in 2000 and 2001. Furthermore, we have aggressively promoted the spread of bulk casing from our position as a leader in the industry. We have also proposed a small bulk case that is more suited to accommodating orders of smaller quantities. It can accommodate chip components in sizes as small as 0.6 x 0.3 mm.

Excellent information - thank you! I sent Murata a question about this through their webpage, and I hope I get an answer. Meanwhile, if anyone has any more information about a specific cassette manufacturer - it is more than welcome!

I would tell the supplier to hold the fly shit.
