Comparing a board image against gerbers | 12 September, 2013

Hello!

Are there any tools/ softwares that can compare a board image against the gerbers and point out the differences.

Eg: I want to compare the whole board image with a gerbers top layer and see the differences.

I think http://www.quins.de/Quins-ENGLISH/Software/QE_Software/Quins-easy-Software.html this might achieve what you are after, its a first article inspection machine costing IRO 8-10k Sterling. Unlike other FAI machines all it does is compare two images and show you the differences and it does mention PCB layout in there as one of its uses. Never seen it in action..... It's possible their software partner rovides something without the hardware, who knows.............

Visual Place, Most CAD packages can read there own gerbers. Then there is GC-Place and other gerber viewers to select from some shareware some commercial. Many/Some of the CAD packages can read there own gerber and recreate the CAD file which you can then do A Design rule check on etc,

Hi,

If your PCB is large, you waste a time. Any picture, you takes, will be with corner distortion. I suggest you to: 1. use AOI (manually or automatically) 2. try simulation of your PCB production before real SMT production process 3. use human FAI - the bad choice
