Looking for information on how to stop our Fuji from picking up parts in advance for the next board at the in carrier. In other words, how can we stop the machine from picking up parts before reading fiducials on a board without adding a skip mark to all our programs? Is there a proper setting we can change?

In Fuji flexa, under the machine configuration tab. Panel and Board mark reading order should be set to SKIP MARK. (this only works if you have the skip mark active in your fiducial list)If it is set to FIDUCIAL MARK, then the machine will ALWAYS pick parts before reading fiducials.

Thank you, but as I said before, is there a way to do this WITHOUT adding skip marks? We need a global setting that will affect all our existing programs.

I understand what you want, I do not however, understand why? I have checked some documentation and found nothing. If I know why, I might try harder for a solution. It doesn't seem like time is crucial, else you want to pre-pick. Two easy ways are: Do not allow the PCB to be on in carrier until the one in production exits, or, of course the dreaded Block skip mark. Just pick a feature on the X-Y table to read as one BS mark, the same for all programs. There might be a global way, again "why" will dictate my effort.

We do a lot of low volume prototypes and several boards that have have cut outs or fixtures that dont always reliably stop squarely at the in carrier (beveled corners). This sometimes results in a fid read error, because the fid wont be in the search range (I'm not willing to open the search field more than it is now). Our solution is to change the machine XY origin to compensate per assembly. Because we work with limited stock, I do not want any parts to be wasted while troubleshooting fid issues. Ideally, if the fids cant be read properly the machine wont pick any parts and my operators can alert me to fix the issue with fid read errors without wasting parts.

In that case, please consider one block skip mark, the same first sequence for all programs, view some feature of the X-Y table, not the PCB, that way, its just a habit. I will look into preventing advance pick, not sure if it is possible.

Or else, as Dman may have been pointing to, duplicate the first fid sequence, and use it as the block skip mark, if found, then the next sequence is the fid it already found as a block skip mark....
