MPM AP/C (AP25?) hardware limit error / manual

MPM AP/C (AP25?) hardware limit error / manual | 12 October, 2014

I just got a used AP/C which I guess is also called an AP25? After fixing a few obvious issues, I powered it up, and get a hardware limit error. I have verified that none of the axis are near their limits. Without a manual, I'm not sure where to go next.

Any help with either the problem, or manuals would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

Can't help you with the manual but do have some tips: If it was shipped, it's possible someone tied axis or blocked stuff for shipping. Look for that. Look for bent sensor flags + go into I/O and check to see all sensors you can find are working. You'll need to change usermode. Passwords might be Admin, SVC and QMPM if not changed over time. If your hardware limit has a number associatied with it, count down the list on the left of the screen to match the # and that might narrow the problem axis for you. Also, those machines like to eat driver cards for some reason (maybe just in our shop?). Reseat all the connectors on your drivers (lower rear drawer) and look for a bad card. Usually a bad card has a blown cap near the top that you can easily see. Or, if you think you know which axis is not working, try swapping it's driver card with another axis. They should be labelled in the chasis. Keep in mind tacktile has it's own designated driver. Also, you must set the DIP switch to match the axis. It'll be obvious when you look.

swag has good tips...

the key is getting into calibrate mode and jogging each axis one by one.

it should be clear which axis is giving the issue because either it wont count or wont move etc.

one other thing we have seen is missing i/o cards... many ap machines come out of delphi have been modified or rigged up / parts stolen and can cause weird issues as well.

We've got a set of manuals here for the AP series. If you would like to borrow them email me.
