What's the best company for low volume, quick turn around PCB assembly?

this is very touchy.There are many CPMs out there. Which one is the best for you though is what you should figure out. I think your boards density, quantities and variety assemblies will define that. One of our customers has around 1000 different assemblies - most of them easy to build anad in small quantities. We usually build 60-70 assemblies a week for them. In case like that - more machines in the line(more feeder capacity) gives you opportunity to make a bigger setup and run more different assemblies faster. Still you need to make sure what time of the line will be dedicated to your product.

As for cost, that will depend on several things....

-Turn key or consignment? -Diversity of components? -Total quantity of components to be loaded? -Single or double sided SMT? -Individual boards or are they panelized? -No clean or water soluble flux and do the finished assemblies need to be cleaned? -Any components that can not go through an aqueous wash process? -Are there any through hole components?

No way to give a cost ballpark until more information is known about the assemblies.

I'd look close to home first. Nothing beats meeting face to face with the EMS guys. You may sacrifice lowest price but gain a better overall experience.

Hi Bill,I think you should give a brief induction to your boards. As far as I know,there are so many assembly house in China.But I dont think they will offer a good price for 10 pcs.

Not sure how anyone could pretend to "ballpark" a cost for a board, regardless of size, especially in small quantities.

You might need 10 assemblies, but the MOQ for your main component might be 100, 200, 500, 5K pcs.

Makes me laugh every time I see that type a request. MOQs can lead to quotations like this: You want 1000 boards? $10 each You want 10 boards? $1000 each

there is no best company just the company best for you. E.g. I use PCBgogo(www.pcbgogo.com/b), they make PCB and also do PCBA, but they don't buy components for me. I don't like this at first and I prefer turn-key service, but why I still choose them? I think it's because the low cost PCB and assembly fee, the easy quote and order process and the fast lead time. I can just do PCB or PCBA, I like their service. However, if I want turn-key service, I have to ask for other suppliers. Anyway, the good news is they have promised me that they will do turn-key service in 2016. Hope it comes soon. So I think it always have a run-in period with the suppliers best for you. you just need be patient for searching a good supplier and then patiently pass a run-in period.

Most likely the one closest to you physically. But in any case for low volume quick turn, shop locally.
