I am wondering what options are out there for running 36 to 40 inch long pcbs.

What machines are you using?

Sounds like you want to buy a custom made SMT machine.. Your re-flow would be a nightmare to program.

most of the machines ive seen have a maximum working footprint of 29.5" and that is deemed an "option" so not standard for the machine capability.

good luck!

Many Manufacturers make Large board capable machines.

A quick way to find them is to look for LED machines, the lengths should range from 32" to 52", although some simply manipulate the staging (clamping) area to achieve length. The trick is finding a printer... but if the boards are not heavily populated, it might be cheaper to get a dispenser add-on for one of the machines. Look at Universal, Samsung, JUKI for pick and place just to name a few... EKRA makes big board printers but many others do as well as an option.

As I know, some PCB manufacturer can make 1200mm (47") and longer boards now. If you didn't get satisfied answer from here, try ask your PCB or PCBA supplier
