IPC standards are used by the electronics manufacturing industry. IPC different courses are available like IPC-A-600 Acceptability of Printed Boards IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies IPC-6011 Generic Performance Specification for Printed Boards etc which are used worldwide for original equipment manufacturers and EMS companies.

What is the role of IPC training in PCB Manufacturing and Repair? | 13 February, 2017

From what I have seen, people who really understand the standard, don't inspect boards on a daily basis. Boards are inspected by people, who don't know to fully apply the criteria of the IPC or other standard. The whole thing looks more like a show to entertain customers. Back in the days, there were not so many standards, but some of the goods were better quality. I have a tube TV that is 40 years old and still working with perfect picture.
