Soldered lead length measurement & IPC compliance | 8 August, 2018

The Company just certified to AS9100. One of the minor observations related to the method used to measure the lead length to insure compliance with IPC requirements. Are there any tools/devices/equipment available to measure lead lengths that is repeatable/traceable and will fulfill AS9100 requirements?

If you happen to have the Solder Paste Height Measurement System, it would able to do the works for you. That's only if the leads are not long.

Hello, I am not sure what you mean exactly. Lead length is something standard given from components supplier. Pretty much all new AOI machines can measure the length and height of most of the leads on a IC.
