Emboss Carrier Tape recycling processes | 27 October, 2018

Hi Experts,

I have noted a savings opportunity on our work-place as chipmounters discard carrier tapes which are easily separated in different waste-containers below the feeders. Normally the company pays a service to dispose that waste.

Have anyone of you tried to recycle it instead of dispossal? How do you do? As I understand it can be polyestirene or polycarbonate, both would be mixed in the same waste-bin.

I have been grinding the smt reels to reduce space and recently found a company who will take my scrap for repurposing not landfill. It is not easy to get this into a proper stream unless you have a truck load. We probably send them 300lbs at a time about 4 times a year. The carrier tapes ar3 cut by the smt mavh8nes now so it is more difficult to keep separate from the paper tape now.

Hi Proy I have been looking at a way to handle the waste SMT reels. The recycling company stopped taking them because of the labels were jamming up their machine. I see you grind your reels. What do you use to grind the reels? Stu.
