We are looking into selective solder machines and would like any comments on the electromagnetic style pumps. They look much easier to maintain but do they perform well ?

For what purpose you are looking at this electromagnetic pump? I am having a heat pump in my home. I know the bit about this pump but it is hard to maintain it.

A heat pump pumps heat. The poster was talking about pumping molten solder.

They do perform well and are much easier to maintain than impeller driven pumps as there are no moving parts. The machines with electromagnetic pumps do cost more but the extra investment is worth it.

One of the main benefits of the electromagnetic pump is the accuracy of the wave which is more stable than an impeller driven pump. This means the wave can be positioned closer to components on the underside of the PCB without touching.

I did a project two years back before choosing a machine and so please let me know any other questions you have on selective soldering machines as there are many considerations such as nitrogen supply

Hope this helps Mike
