Trying to install A12 tool, fails to fetch tool. Error: Preliminary fetch failed, try to unlock tool manually.

Try to check if there any foreign objects drop on the tool bank first. Even a tiny passive part could prevent the proper function of "open" and "close" of the tool bank. That's something to check too but always overlooked.

Thanks cleaned it all out. I’m not sure how to check for proper “open” and “close” function. Or how to unlock tool manually.

I haven't played with the Mydata machines since 2007. All I could remember is: There is TPSys that you need to log in to access the calibration/advanced settings. From there you should be able to find what you are looking for.

The lock is manually being able to twist into the lock position and unlock by twisting in the opposite direction. I highly doubt that this is the real problem. First check the rings on the tool to see if they are too worn to hold in the mount head. Second make sure you have nothing stuck up inside your mount head that would prevent the tool from going into it fully. Watch the head make sure it is going down far enough to pick up the tool and that a bad latch is preventing it from going down far enough.

Forgot to mention all other tools pick and install fine.

If all other tools appear to be working fine, only the A12 is having the issue. You might have a faulty tool(not within original spec). As Bruce suggested, check the A12 tool itself to see anything abnormal. If it's brand new, you might need some lubrication(not too much), for used tool, look for any noticeable sign of damages.

Tried 3 different tools, including the A12 from our second machine.

3 different A12 tools and the same error could be a problem with the tool holder or a parameter. I suppose the locking tabs in the holder could be worn or bent and you could try removing one of the pins from the tool and setting it in a different location. Otherwise I would look at the parameters and compare the A12 to the A13 tool.

Since you have a 2nd machine, and another A12 tool, that would be a lot easier to troubleshoot by using the swap part method. Also, try to compare the A12 parameter from the 2nd machine to the "trouble" too.

Swap part method??? Are you meaning swap the tool banks? The tabs on the tool bank look good, but if it’s tweaked slightly that would be hard to tell. Sorry, I’m just an operator/programmer. The person that did all this stuff left suddenly.

Whenever you are not sure if a part is good or not. Try to use it on the 2nd machine which uses the same part to test it out. If it "test" part works fine on the 2nd machine then it would be ruled out as not the "root cause". In your case, you can try to use A12 on the 2nd machine to check if it's "A12" tool problem.

Gotcha. I tried the tool from the second machine in the first machine, but not vice versa will give that a go.

Update: -The A12 tools will install in the 2nd machine. -Modified an A12 tool to install in the A13 tool location. -The modified tool will install in the A13 location of the 2nd machine, but not the 1st machine. Check that the parameters of the A12 tool on the 1st machine match the 2nd machine.

With the given update you provided, that would rule out the nozzle tool issue. If the parameter looks fine, then the issue would be somewhere around the nozzle tool bank. Need to check open and close release. If the nozzle seats flush "not tilted" when you place into the slot.

It sits flush in the bank and twist fine. The open and close are the 2 tabs on the tool bank right? When it’s closed the tool is twisted so it can’t pull up and open is the opposite?
