Intercompatibility between different manufacturer machines | 26 August, 2020

Hi,

We are planning to replace our ancient 3rd line with new machines. We've only ever had Samsung/Hanhwa PnP machines so far and I'd like to know about porting data between them and other manufacturers. Is it as simple as generating .ssa file and importing it to another machine? Are there any complications aside from the part library?

Thanks.

This program will read a large number of modern machine formats and export to the same set of formats, as well as feeder movement, machine optimisation and up to 6 different manufacturers machines in the one line. And it only caosts $1000US.

I think this probably depends a bit on what is in an ssa file (no idea personally)and how the machine you are moving to works. For instance if you have intelligent feeders than any data relating to where a feeder is loaded or the best place to put it is essentially useless, you'd be configuring that on the new machine on the fly based on what you were building and what was on the line already. Provided its an option you pay for, if you can export a file that you can then either read directly as a CSV/Excel or easily turn it into one, its likely your new machine can import that quite easily, once you have your parts libraries that is, and I don't think anyone has a standard way of storing that data. I'm told some machines define the point of origin differently which adds a slight layer of trickery..

Part library is big enough problem. Whatever machine you pick you will be able to transfer XY, Theta coordinates as well as reference designators. This will help in programing a little, but this is all you will gain. all packages, vision algorithms and machine specific parameters you will not be able to transfer.
