Hello,

I'm new to this forum. I recently purchased a 100MV Screen printer and unfortunately; it arrived damaged. I was able to turn the unit on and I was able to get the unit do the initiation process (ex. datums).

When I tried to do a sample PRINT operation; then a vacuum menu window showed and immediately the LCD became non-responsive. I restarted the unit and still non responsive.

I tried removing the IC of the LCD and the main board and re-installing it; and still no response.

Any help will be appreciated.

These machines are known for this. Keep reseating the chip on the display board. The mylar display looks pretty bad and may need replaced.

Make sure the pins on the chip on the main display are not bent or tarnished...i have scraped the bottom of the legs before.

I would try Reprint in UK. I think they still have parts.

The mylar is just the keyboard and has its own connector. All the keys seems to work well (the lcd pcb has some leds and they blink when I push each key). The lcd is soldered on the display board.

For some reason i remember reseating the mylar and it working but it was probably just lucky and fixed a bad connection somewhere else on the board. I know we also reseated the ribbon cable.

I tried calling sigmaprint.co.uk but they did not answer. The have no working links in their site and they might be out of business?

I believe sigmaprint is out of business....but Reprint still has a working webpage so they should be able to help you. I like those printers but they are very old and the boards can cause intermittent problems.

That is the site. I do not have a direct contact but i probably know a few of the guys. I believe they used to work for smtech along time ago.

Quick question: I found it odd that the printer seems to be working fine when I turn it on for the first time. But as soon as I push the two "PRINT" buttons, a window of VAC came up and the letters in the LCD had some sort of error/miss-characters. Could it be possible that maybe one of the motors is bad and something got smoked and is just not allowing the LCD to communicate with the main board?

I think in the machine configuration there is an option to use the vacuum or not. Its been a long time but i think you just just skip past the vac message if it pops up. Pust both left buttons at the same (under the display) time to get into the machine settings.

Hi, so I was able to turn the machine on for a few seconds. It looks like the IC on the LCD doesn't have goo contact because it's very hard to keep the machine operational. I was able to see the table lifting for the first time; it was so cool! but then it stopped working again...

I have a few questions:

1. I noticed that there is a resistor close to the IC and it gets very hot to the point you can't touch it. Is this normal? I noticed is connected parallel to the power of the LCD screen so I figure it was normal.

2. Can you share a picture of your limit switches for the head? It will go back half way and then it will crash in the front and go to the main menu screen. Is this normal?

I was in the maintenance menu, and I tried to move the head towards the front or back and it crashed really bad.

3. I attached a screen capture of how the LCD looks when I try to do a quick print calibration.

1. The resistor is normally hot. 2. If the machine is crashing towards the front then the system settings need reset. Do this by pressing and releasing the e stop then pressing both front left buttons on the mylar below the lcd screen. Go into the machine configuration and reset system parameters....after it homes you will have to reteach the front and rear limits and the squeegie blade postions for printing.
