Hi, I'm currently in the process of evaluating a number of 3D AOI machines such as Koh Young Zenith Alpha HS+, CyberOptics SQ3000, Mirtec MV-6 Omni, Parmi Xceed L and Aleader ALD8720S. Does anyone have any thoughts on these machines as to which is best for a high mix/low volume CEM? Any other machines should be considered? Thanks

I've really liked Koh Young in the past, but it's been a few years. I really disliked a lot of aspects of the Parmi system (lots of false calls and lower quality hardware IMO).

The last time I was looking for 3D AOI I liked what I saw of the SQ3000, but it was super new to the market and the support from CyberOptics was lacking.

I'm currently using AOI/SPI from TRI and so far I'm a fan. Probably not as much as I enjoyed working on Koh Young, but still a good machine.

Thanks for your comments. Currently checking out the Mirtec which seems to have good reviews

When I was looking at Mirtec (4-5 years ago) I wasn't very impressed compared to Koh Young. It was easy to tell that Koh Young started with 3D and then added 2d features where needed, and that Mirtec had done the opposite.

There's nothing wrong with coming from a 2D background and then adding 3D to the mix, but I was unimpressed with Mirtec's 3D inspection capabilities.

I'd choose between Koh-Young and Omron. Other machines seems to have some conpromises on technologys (just my point of view). We have both of them, but on different sites. Now just planning to perform a batle between it on the same assemblys batch to have a real comparison of results. But now generally I can say that these machines is quite close. Omron is a bit faster and easier in programming, KY is better in falls calls and inspection details. Also KY have a nice K-smart link option that works for SPI-AOI results linkage, it brings a lot of information for process improvements (we do not have a Omron SPI yet). But the overall defference for production untill now is not big. So between them you can make a choose upon local distributor service capability, especially for customer personell training (for this machines it is important). There is a difference with prices, but it's too important equipment to choose by price. If about KY machines it is better to choose Zenith or Zenith 2 (more expensive, but more flexible and better for modern sophisticated boards). UHS is good if you a high speed.

Hi, you can also consider VISCOM S3088 3D AOI. I installed last year for CM client with High mix low volume. They have a very powerful and user-friendly programming interface.

May be someone can share an expirience of using Pemtron machines? As I know it's designed by ex-Koh Young engineers. Also Yamaha YSi-V (HS2) is interesting. Both of them looks interesting for it's price, but I saw them only in demo... What about reliability, falls calls rate, software etc...
